WHAT BIKE CAN I USE?
Both Mountain Bikes and Road Bikes are permitted in the Triathlon – please ensure the bike meets triathlon standards of safety, with working front and back brakes and tyres pumped to the recommended pressure. Please bring a puncture repair kit and pump.
CAN I HIRE A BIKE IN FORT WILLIAM?
You can hire a quality road bike from Off Beat Bikes based in Fort William. The Cube Attain is perfect for the Highland roads and included in the hire is a helmet and toolkit. Off Beat Bikes can set this bike up for you, just bring your own pedals if you are riding clipless. Total cost for the day is £40 per person which includes delivery and collection from the start and finish point.
CAN I SEND MY BIKE UP TO FORT WILLIAM BEFOREHAND?
Yes, you can have your bike sent to the Off Beat Bikes high street shop and they will get it serviced and ready to go. This service is £35 per bike. Get in touch with Off Beat Bikes.
DOES MY HELMET MEET SAFETY STANDARDS?
Your helmet will pass the safety inspection as long as it has no cracks or damage and bears a CE & EU safety mark. The strap must also be in good working order and adjusted to fit.
WHEN DO I RACK MY BIKE?
You can only rack your bike on the day of the race; transition opens at 05:30.
BIKE CUT OFF TIMES?
Please note, there will be a cut off time at Laggan dam (19 miles Approx / 30Km). Any rider not reaching this point will be turned back at this point 2 hrs 15 mins after the race start.
Riders should be aiming to complete the cycle in 3 hr 30 mins max.
Riders arriving back 4hr 30 min after start time should will be asked to complete a half distance Ben Nevis Run.
